Cameron et al. (1989) - an unknown number of I. maculator emerged from an importation of Coleophora trifolii host larvae collected near Montmédy, France in August 1955. Itoplectis maculator is a primary pupal parasitoid of Choristoneura murinana but is also hyperparasitic in C. trifolii. The individuals that emerged were sent to the British Museum of Natural History for identification; none were released.
