Release details: A total of 12, 385 adults were released into forests at Woodhill, Waiuku, Kawhia, Rotoehu, Tarawera, Matahina, Whakarewarewa, Kaingaroa, Tokoroa, Tauhara, Patanamu, Pouakani, Karioi, Waiterere, Gwavas (North Island), Rabbit Island and Golden Downs (South Island)

Establishment: Recovered from Whakarewarewa Forest in 1984, probably established elsewhere.
