Consultation with the EPA
As with a release application, the applicant is advised to contact EPA staff [http://www.epa.govt.nz/Contact-us/Pages/Contact-us.aspx] early in the development of a project to canvas the level of consultation that might be required, to receive guidance whether the application will take the notified or non-notified decision path, and to finalise the timeframe. The EPA Maori Unit (Kaupapa Kura Taiao) will provide guidance on dialogue with the Maori organisation holding mana whenua in the area of the containment facility.
Applicants should consult the following resources available on the EPA website, and use these in conjunction with the information provided below.
